Ideal Weight Calculator for Indians
A healthy weight range for your height, built on the same Indian (ICMR / WHO Asia-Pacific) BMI band our BMI tool uses — 18.5 to 22.9 — instead of a single "ideal number" that ignores how BMI actually works.

How we compute this
We take your height, square it in metres, and multiply by the Indian "normal" BMI band of 18.5 to 22.9 — the same cut-offs as our BMI calculator. That gives two weights: the lightest and heaviest you can be at your height while your BMI still reads as normal for an Indian body, rather than the looser global 18.5–24.9 band most calculators default to.
This is a population-level estimate, not a body-composition reading. It doesn't know how much of your weight is muscle versus fat, and it doesn't adjust for frame size or an athletic build — a well-muscled person can sit above this range while carrying very little body fat. Use it as a starting band to sanity-check against, not a single number to chase.
Questions people ask
Using the Indian BMI band of 18.5–22.9, a healthy range works out to roughly 43-53 kg at 5'0" (152 cm), 49-61 kg at 5'4" (163 cm), and 57-70 kg at 5'9" (175 cm). Plug your own height into the calculator above for your exact range — it's a band, not one target weight.
